Shipping Policy

We understand that shipping is a consideration in making a purchase.

Our fully computerized warehouse and inventory system allows us to process your orders quickly and efficiently. Most orders are picked and packed within hours of being received. Orders fulfilled from our warehouse will ship the same day when placed by 2pm (New York time).

We offer Standard Ground Shipping (1-5 Days) for FREE on most orders over $100 and for a flat rate of only $7.95 on orders less than $100.

You can upgrade your shipping method to Two Day Shipping for most standard size items under 10 lbs. That includes pen kits, most turning tools, lathe accessories and more.

Two Day Shipping is FREE for a limited time for qualifying orders over $100 and $9.95 for orders below $100.

Please note that we ship from our warehouse Monday to Friday. Items that require the use of a freight carrier can take 1-3 business days to ship. Drop Shipped items usually take extra time to ship, depending on the manufacturer.

We would love to offer free shipping for all of our products, due to the variety in products sizes and weights, that is impossible. Please read the sections below which describe details for Product Types, Shipping Methods and Rates as well as Shipping Zones. These factors are considered when shipping your order.

Every item on our website has a “Shipping Class” field which is displayed on the product page to easily identify available shipping methods.

Standard Size
Items that weigh less than 10 pounds with dimensions under 650 cubic inches.

Oversized
Items with dimensions exceeding 650 cubic inches.

Heavy
Items that weigh more than 10 pounds, but less than 25 pounds.

Extra Heavy
Items that weigh more than 25 pounds, but less than 50 pounds.

Freight
Items that ship from our warehouse and require the use of a freight carrier. An example of this would be a Record Power Regent Lathe or any large machines or accessories that are in stock in our warehouse.

Drop Ship
Items that ship from one of our manufacturers, and these often require the use of a freight carrier. An example of this would be a lathe, or any large lathe accessories, from manufacturers such as Robust, Oneway, Powermatic or Jet. PLEASE NOTE that all freight shipments are CURBSIDE delivery only. The purchaser is responsible for moving machinery from the curbside to inside the home.

We ship using several methods, which are dependent on the Product Shipping Class and the Shipping Locations/Zone.

Standard Shipping
Basic 1-5 day ground service, such as USPS or UPS. It is available for orders which include only Standard Product Shipping Class and will ship to a residential or commercial address in the US48.

Rates:
Orders over $100 - Free Shipping
Orders less than $100 - $7.95 (flat rate)

Two Day Shipping
Guaranteed shipping service, such as (but not limited to) UPS 2nd Day Air. It is available for orders which include only Standard Product Shipping Class and will ship to a residential or commercial address in the US48.

Rates:
Orders over $100 - Free Shipping for a limited time
Orders less than $100 - $9.95 (flat rate)

Oversized Standard Shipping
Basic 1-5 day ground service, such as UPS Ground. It is available for orders which include any Oversized Product Shipping Class and will ship to a residential or commercial address in the US48.

Rates:
Orders over $200 - Free Shipping
Orders less than $200 - $9.95 (flat rate)

Heavy Standard Shipping
Basic 1-5 day ground service, such as UPS Ground. It is available for orders which include any Heavy Product Shipping Class and will ship to a residential or commercial address in the US48.

Rates:
Orders over $200 - Free Shipping
Orders less than $200 - $9.95 (flat rate)

Extra Heavy Standard Shipping
Basic 1-5 day ground service, such as UPS Ground. It is available for orders which include any Extra Heavy Product Shipping Class and will ship to a residential or commercial address in the US48.

Special Heavy Standard Shipping
Basic 1-5 day ground service, such as UPS Ground. It is available for orders which include Special Heavy Product Shipping Class and will ship to a residential or commercial address in the US48. These are products which can ship by small package ground services (such as UPS) but are extremely heavy or bulky (e.g. CamVacs, Herald Lathes and accessories)

Freight Shipping From The Woodturning Store Warehouse
Items that are too large or heavy to ship by small package carrier and are in stock at our warehouse will be shipped by a freight carrier. There are many variations which affect the cost of freight shipping, however, we have listed these items with a fixed rate, as shown on each item’s product page. The rate is based upon shipping to a residential address and requiring curbside liftgate delivery service. If you have different requirements, please call us to discuss it. Freight items can only be shipped to a residential or commercial street address in the US48.

Drop Shipping From Robust Tools
Robust lathes are drop-shipped from their factory in Barneveld, Wisconsin. The shipping cost for lathes is calculated based upon the shipment’s overall size, weight, and delivery location. A shipping estimate may be shown on our website’s product page. However, please contact us for a quotation as the rate may be different, depending on your individual needs. The quote you will be given will be the exact rate charged by the manufacturer. PLEASE NOTE that all freight shipments are CURBSIDE delivery only. The purchaser is responsible for moving machinery from the curbside to inside the home

Drop Shipping From Oneway Manufacturing
Oneway lathes are drop-shipped from their factory in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. The shipping cost for lathes is calculated based upon the shipment’s overall size, weight, and delivery location. A shipping estimate may be shown on our website’s product page. However, please contact us for a quotation as the rate may be different, depending on your individual needs. The quote you will be given will be the exact rate charged by the manufacturer. PLEASE NOTE that all freight shipments are CURBSIDE delivery only. Drop Shipping From JPW Industries (JET and Powermatic Items)
Most JET and Powermatic items are drop-shipped from their factory in Tennessee. JPW’s drop shipping rates are based upon product price and are shown on each item’s product page as well as in cart or checkout. To provide you with the best value, we now offer free shipping on orders containing $2,000 or more of JET and Powermatic items! For orders containing less than $2,000 of JET and Powermatic items, the shipping rate can be calculated in checkout or by contacting us. Rates are based upon delivery to a residence requiring curbside, liftgate service in the US48. JPW offers special rates to schools and sometimes offers special shipping promotions. Drop Shipping From Laguna Tools
Most Laguna Tools items are drop-shipped from their factory. Laguna Tools drop shipping rates are based upon product price and are shown on each item’s product page. The rate is based upon delivery to a residence requiring curbside, liftgate service in the US48. Laguna Tools offers special rates to schools and sometimes offers special shipping promotions. In addition to the Product Shipping Class described above, our ability to ship a product to you will depend on your shipping location (also called Shipping Zones). We would certainly love to ship our orders throughout the world, but due to the variety of our products’ sizes and weights, together with shipping carrier limitations, that is not possible. Please read the following section below regarding our shipping locations and limitations.

Commercial and Residential Street Locations in the Lower 48 United States
We can ship all of our products to any physical street address located in the lower 48 United States. Rates and terms vary as described above.

PO Boxes in the lower 48 United States
We can ship only Standard Size items to PO boxes located in the lower 48 United States. We cannot ship any other product type to a PO Box (Heavy, Extra Heavy, Oversize, Freight, Drop Ship). There is a flat rate charge of $9.95 to ship standard size items to a US48 PO Box. Free Shipping and Two Day Shipping is not available to PO Boxes.

Alaska and Hawaii
We can ship only Standard Size items to street addresses and PO boxes located in the states of Alaska and Hawaii (AK/HI). We cannot ship any other product type to AK/HI (Heavy, Extra Heavy, Oversize, Freight, Drop Ship). There is a flat rate charge of $14.99 to ship standard size items to AK/HI. Free Shipping and Two Day Shipping is not available to AK/HI. In some cases, we can ship heavy or oversize items to AK/HI, but the cost will most likely be much higher. Please call us to discuss your needs in more detail.

International Locations
Unfortunately, at this time, we cannot ship to international locations. We are working on this and hope to offer a service in the future.

Local Pickup
We offer free local pickup for in stock items, to customers in New York state and some other local areas. If you live in New York state, our checkout process will offer local pickup to you. If you live outside of New York state, but would like to request local pickup, please call us.
