Steady rests are used to support large diameter bowls and hollow vessels when working on the interior as well as to support long spindles. Long hollow forms especially need the support of a quality steady rest. Robust steady rests are available in eight different sizes to fit wood lathes from 12″ to 25″ swing (diameter).
Each Steady Rest is constructed from a heavy duty rolled-angle iron ring, welded to a rigid machined base. The arms are made from precision laser cut steel and each piece is professionally powder coated black. The wheels are quality non-marking polyurethane with ABEC 7 bearings. The tenon is adjustable to fit your lathe bed and there is a universal hold-down. The high quality locking levers are the same ones used on Robust lathes. The arms are positional anywhere you want in 10° increments.
Each steady rest is shipped with three arms, and extra arms can be purchased if you want additional support. Common sizes are usually in stock at the manufacturer, others are made to order in 3-4 weeks.
