Replacing the same tool.
Use the same tool for years. I do some product work. Still using the old one.

Hurricane, M2 Cryo Parting Tool, 1/8 th inch.
I’m glad to have this low cost 1/8” tool, with legendary Crown hardened steel and better sharpening retention. I compare it with Crown’s larger 3/16” diamond shape parting tool. The narrower kerf of the Hurricane is makes it more smooth. Because of the smaller bite. Because the blade is rectangular in shape, it’s vertical strength and cross sectional volume of steel is actually about the same as the bigger wider diamond tool. The handle and overall size is expectantly smaller than the 3/16” tool. The Hurricane is greatly more substantial than commonly made diamond shaped 1/8” parting tools. This has become my common work horse for medium and small turnings.
