Hurricane Turning Tools 1 1/2" Round Nose Scraper made from High Speed Steel with Solid Beech Handle
Standard Series tools are made from High Speed Steel to our specifications in one of the world's largest turning tool factories and have been heat treated to give excellent performance under the rigorous demands of woodturning. They are designed for the beginning to intermediate woodturner but are also great for experienced turners that want a high quality HSS tool at an affordable price. Our Standard Series has excellent edge holding ability and will last 8x longer between sharpenings as compared to carbon steel. They come fitted into a solid beech handle of the proper length for each type of tool. In addition to the high-quality steel, Hurricane Tools have extra long handles, some as long as 16 inches. We recommend CBN grinding wheels for outstanding results. Consider purchasing several of the same type and modifying the shapes/grinds to suit a variety of woodturning applications.

- Used to cut wood at a blunt angle. Scrapers will not produce a finish that is as good as a gouge, but are useful in many situations where cutting with a gouge would be difficult or a fine finish is not required.

1-1/2" Round nose scrapper
I've wanted one of these for some time and finally bought it. I was impressed that it's such a beefy tool.. Very easy to use. I was planning to grind a negative rake on it but instead by raising the tool rest and also raising the scraper's handle works great. I'm very happy with this Hurricane 1-1/2" round nose scraper.

1/12 round nose scraper by Hurricane
This scrapewr was much thicker than I expected and quite a weight to it, which only makes it better. I have used it on two bowls (green wood) and it leaves a much smoother surface than any of my other turning tools. Great tool. Will order a straight one next.

Excellent Scraper
I've been using this scraper, as well as few other size Hurricane scrapers, for about a year now. They are excellent. They wear well and perform well. This large scraper has really reduced the vibration that comes from extending well over the tool rest. Very satisfied!

Nice steel, bad ferrule
The steel is very nice on this tool,and after sharpening cuts well, but the ferrule took a star off because it's top edge is very rough, and had a couple of thin wire burrs hanging off it. A bit of sanding and filing should fix it.

Built to last
I'm relatively new to wood turning but I've learned quickly that the tools I use determine the quality of the work I do. I'm no "artist" but tools like this one will only help me progress.
