Hurricane Turning Tools 1/4" Bowl Gouge from 3/8" Round Bar Stock made from High Speed Steel with Solid Beech Handle
Standard Series tools are made from High Speed Steel to our specifications in one of the world's largest turning tool factories and have been heat treated to give excellent performance under the rigorous demands of woodturning. They are designed for the beginning to intermediate woodturner but are also great for experienced turners that want a high quality HSS tool at an affordable price. Our Standard Series has excellent edge holding ability and will last 8x longer between sharpenings as compared to carbon steel. They come fitted into a solid beech handle of the proper length for each type of tool. In addition to the high-quality steel, Hurricane Tools have extra long handles, some as long as 16 inches. We recommend CBN grinding wheels for outstanding results. Consider purchasing several of the same type and modifying the shapes/grinds to suit a variety of woodturning applications.

Hurricane 3/8” (1/4” flute) bowl gauge.
It came with a longer handle. I reground mine to a micro bevel. It requires 3 bevels: 1st 40^, 2nd 34^, 3rd & cutting bevel 56^. The 1st 2 are for relief clearance. It is used for a bowl’s inside heel. It cuts great! No tear out !

Hurricane Bowl gouge
I have had Hurricane tools for over three years and I find them to be a great value. They hold an edge well. I like the handle on the tools that I have bought this year. i think they made an improvement in the wood. The handle lengths are just right for the tools. You can't go wrong with these tools. I am going to try the Cryo tools soon

Great tool for small bowls
This is the smallest bowl gouge from Hurricane, the bar stock is 3/8". I use it for small bowls and for finishing up detail work on tenon. Nice product. Highly recommend.
