These Extra Large Dovetail jaws are possibly the largest dovetail jaws readily available for woodturning chucks. Designed for turning large bowls on full size lathe. This jaw profile is exclusive to Hurricane! Our deep profile dovetail jaws are 3/4" deep with a jaw face of 5/8" for superb gripping power for mid-size to larger bowls. Avaleable in "Large" size for the HTC100 and HTC125 and "Extra-Large" for the HTC125. Check out the photos and dimensions diagram. Dovetail jaws are usually used for turning bowls and can be used in compression or expansion mode. In compression mode, they are used to grip down on a tenon. In expansion mode, they expand into a dovetail recess. They are the most popular jaws and should be in every turner's tool set.

Extra large jaws
These work great and I like to use them for burls that are often seriously out of balance, have cracks and bark inclusions. Also for punkey wood where smaller jaws often break the wood free from the bowl.
